Fergie's £10m to Rebuild His SideSir Alex Ferguson came out fighting last night when he vowed to strengthen his Manchester United squad in January with two new players after being given a £10million war chest by the Glazer brothers. And German midfield star Michael Ballack, who will be available in the summer on a free transfer from Bayern Munich, is currently the centre of a tug-of-war between United and Real Madrid. Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness confirmed yesterday that the German midfield international had made up his mind to leave.

球隊於周日以一球小勝車路士，費格遜希望增強球隊實力以保持爭標希望。
他表示：「我會在一月時購入新球員。」
「不過那些效力有力爭奪歐冠杯球會的球員將不需考慮。」
他補充：「己隊的選擇的確因此而減少。」
「我對現時球隊質素感到滿意，不過像堅尼、加利尼維爾及軒斯等具經驗的球員缺陣下，暫時太依賴年青球員。」
據報曼聯有意收購皇家馬德里的加維臣及拜仁慕尼黑的波歷克，不過兩支球隊出線歐冠杯的機會甚大。

Manchester United have added Dutch midfielder Nigel De Jong to their transfer wish list after he failed to agree a new deal with Ajax.
