佐治貝斯的主診醫生表示，雖然醫院已經放棄替他作出搶救，但貝斯的求生意志十分堅強。
佐治貝斯用了一整晚時間與病魔搏鬥，醫院的威廉斯教授並用「真正的鬥士」來形容他。
佐治貝斯的親友均在醫院裏面守候，並等待著一個即將會發生的事實。
而球迷於醫院門外亦放滿了不少曼聯的頸巾及球衣，為一代名宿祝福。

Manchester United legend George Best has died at the age of 59 after failing to recover from internal bleeding.Best has spent almost eight weeks in Cromwell Hospital in West London after initially being admitted with a kidney infection.
Earlier this month the former Northern Ireland international had shown an improvement in his condition and was taken off a ventilator.
However, he was readmitted to intensive care last week with breathing difficulties and has condition had gradually worsened in recent days.
Best’s physician Professor Roger Williams had grown increasingly concerned over the past couple of days and conceded on Thursday lunchtime that his patient was living through his final hours.
During a glittering playing career, Best was an Old Trafford hero and helped the club to win the European Cup against Benfica in 1968.
He also picked up the European Footballer of the Year accolade the same year and scored a plethora of memorable goals.
In recent years, Best had been working as a pundit for Sky Sports and he will leave a legacy as one of the best players the world of football has ever seen.

United legend George Best has died, aged 59, following a long spell in hospital.
The sad news was confirmed on Friday by doctors at the Cromwell Hospital in west London, where George had been receiving treatment as an in-patient since 1 October.
George had appeared to be making a recovery in recent weeks; seven days ago, he was reported to be "relatively stable" on a general ward. But he was re-admitted to intensive care last Friday after developing a lung infection.
His condition deteriorated further on Tuesday. Complications caused by internal bleeding in the early hours of Thursday put him in a position from which he could not recover.
Professor Roger Williams said at lunch-time today, "It (the bleeding) has affected his lungs and other parts. There really is no return from that situation."
George Best was arguably the most talented British footballer of all time. He made his professional debut for United in 1963, at the age of 17.
