葡萄牙教練史高拉利大讚C.朗拿度在父親去世後一日仍然有專業的表現。

該名曼聯翼鋒於葡萄牙作客俄羅斯的賽事中上陣，最終雙方賽和零比零。

C.朗拿度在國家隊表現出色，在外圍賽中以七個入球成為隊中的神射手。

「在這個人生的重要時刻，基斯坦奴得到全隊球員的支持。」史高拉利表示。

C.朗拿度在七月時，也因為父親病重，而缺席了曼聯亞洲之旅對香港的賽事。

葡萄牙只要在餘下對列治敦士登及拉脫維亞兩場主場賽事中勝出一場，就可以以首名出線。

另外，《太陽報》則報導他將回到葡萄牙辦理父親的喪事，除了周六將缺陣曼徹斯特打毗大戰外，也未定歸隊時間。
