The England international has now taken time out from training, with a major question mark hanging over the player's future.
And hopes that Bayern may be able to reconcile his future in order to remain at the club looked in doubt after Hoeness's public criticism at the club's training ground.
"I am incredibly disappointed in you," Hoeness is quoted in the German media.
"You are prostituting yourself for Manchester United."
Bayern are adamant the player will see out the remaining four years of his contract with the club, and have even threatened to report United to Fifa if they do not call a halt to their pursuit.
