Republic of Ireland boss Steve Staunton has confirmed Steve Finnan has returned to Liverpool due to a neck injury.
The Reds full back was included in Staunton's squad, but after discovering the injury they decided that he should return to Anfield.
Staunton has stated there are no problems between Liverpool and he thanked them for allowing Finnan to link-up with the team.
"Stevie Finnan will be going back to Liverpool," said Staunton. "He's got a little neck injury. There's no point taking a chance.
"Liverpool were good enough to let him come over in the first place, there are no problems."
It remains unclear whether Finnan will be a doubt to face Charlton at Anfield this weekend

Bolo Zenden today admitted he hasn't given up hope of playing again this season.
The Dutch star hasn't played since sustaining a knee injury in November, but he is making a quicker than expected recovery and hopes to figure again before the campaign comes to a close.
"I started running on the treadmill for the first time on Sunday," said Zenden.
"I hope I'll be able to do some running on the training ground sometime in the next week.
"It will only be running in straight lines at this stage, but it's a start. I still hope I'll play again this season."
