Chris Paul Out 1-2 Months, All Star Replacement?
With Chris Paul out 1-2 months after a surgery, who will replace him at the All Star Game?
Let's have a look at the Western All Stars right now:
G - Steve Nash
G - Kobe Bryant
F - Carmelo Anthony
F - Tim Duncan
C - Amar'e Stoudemire
G - Chris Paul (injured)
G - Brandon Roy
F - Kevin Durant
F - Dirk Nowitzki
C - Pau Gasol
G - Deron Williams
F - Zach Randolph
Clearly there isn't a true center in the whole team, with Amar'e, Duncan, Dirk, Pau and Zach all being more of forwards than centers. Would you want to bring in one like Chris Kaman or Andrew Bynum? Surely Bynum's recent play has shown All Star quality. Or would you rather bring in a more deserving guard and overload the point guard spot with Chauncey Billups? How about Monta Ellis? He's averaging career-high stats of 25.9 ppg and 5.6 apg, but his team record hurts his chances.
Personally, for tactical and rotational purposes, I would bring in a center and right now, Bynum is my pick, being a Lakers fan. However, since being named an All Star is such an honour, you'd want someone deserving like Chauncey Billups to be in it. Then again, because the All Star Game is about fun and entertainment, you'd probably want Monta Ellis who can just flat out score. My final verdict is still Bynum, but I'm biased...
