Rovers Linked With Italian Defenders

Blackburn Rovers have confirmed they are keen on signing Italian defenders Marco Materazzi and Matteo Ferrari on season-long loans.



Both players have Premiership experience with Everton with Ferrari having spent the past season on loan at Goodison Park before returning to Roma.

The players are just a number of those interesting Rovers, who will be in the Uefa Cup next season, but their first priority is to sign a striker after Paul Dickov left the club.

Chairman John Williams told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph:" Marco Materazzi and Matteo Ferrari are two of the names on the list.

"We've had a look at Marco and we know all about him, while Matteo was well regarded before he came to Everton last season.

"But at the moment our main priority remains a striker and that's where we are channelling all our energies."
