Feyenoord Deny Kuyt Approach

Feyenoord have denied that Liverpool have made an approach to sign striker Dirk Kuyt.



The Dutch international was quoted as saying that chairman Jorien van den Herik had told him that the Reds had been in touch with regards to his services.

But Van den Herik told the club's official website: "Not one club has called us about Kuyt and I certainly did not speak with Kuyt about this either.”

Kuyt said earlier this week that he would like to join Newcastle.

西 蒙 佐 敦 表 示 ：「 韋 根 在 今 次 的 爭 奪 戰 中 處 在 領 先 位 置 ，他 們 提 出 850萬 英 鎊 轉 會 費 ，我 考 慮 到 這 是 我 想 要 且 合 理 的 數 字 。 除 了 上 述 3間 球 會 對 安 祖 莊 遜 感 興 趣 外 ，我 相 信 樸 茨 茅 夫 亦 是 。 」

安 祖 莊 遜 將 會 在 下 週 一 由 英 格 蘭 世 界 盃 集 訓 營 返 回 球 隊 ，之 後 預 計 會 與 韋 根 的 官 員 會 面 。

The bitter fight between Chelsea and Manchester United for John Mikel Obi's signature could be over "within days".

The Nigerian teenager is set to sign a three-year deal with the English Premiership champions.  

The 18-year-old midfielder has been at the centre of a protracted tug-of-war between Chelsea and United.

But a source close to Obi's camp has told BBC Sport that Obi's future will be resolved when he signs a US$15m contract with Chelsea.

This follows months of tortuous negotiations between Chelsea and United over the future of one of the most talented players to emerge from Africa in recent years.

Obi signed for United back in April 2005 from Norwegian side Lyn Oslo but within days, his agent claimed the contract was signed under duress and should be ruled null and void.

The Nigerian youngster then refused to move to Old Trafford and said he wanted to play for big-spending Chelsea instead.

Negotiations have rumbled on for months, but it is now believed that Chelsea have won the battle to sign the Nigerian international.

Bullish Newcastle warn big clubs off Owen

Newcastle have insisted England striker Michael Owen will remain at the club amid claims Arsenal are ready to activate a £12million clause in his contract.


Both the Magpies and the 26-year-old himself have repeatedly dismissed speculation he will leave St James' Park this summer almost since the day Owen completed his £17million transfer from Real Madrid last August.


However, that has done nothing to quell the speculation with the latest rumours from London suggesting Arsene Wenger is hot on Owen's trail.

Newcastle have grown tired of commenting on the situation and said nothing publicly today, but in private, the message was unequivocal.

The Newcastle Evening Chronicle quoted 'an insider' to have said: 'It's absolute rubbish. Michael signed a four-year contract and as far as we are concerned, that is the end of the matter.'

That sentiment matches the rhetoric of both chairman Freddy Shepherd and the player in recent months, and although the Magpies know it will not kill off the stories, they are keen the message gets through to the club's fans.

Shepherd pulled off a major coup to capture Owen, muscling the player's former club Liverpool out of the running with a bid they simply could not match.

He has yet to fully reap the rewards of his investment - the striker managed only 11 appearances for the club last season - but the seven goals he scored illustrated that his lethal ability to finish remains intact.
