Assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has revealed that there could be a new face at Manchester United within a week.

Sir Alex Ferguson's number two was on hand for the Amsterdam Tournament to reveal that United are close to making another new signing.

Only England midfielder Michael Carrick has joined the club so far, with Ruud van Nistelrooy's departure to Real Madrid a notable loss.

But Queiroz insists The Red Devils will not be pressured into making any hasty pronouncements.

"We are working on something," Queiroz told Sky Sports News.

"We'll see, maybe next week. We don't rush with our decisions. We will wait a few days to give us time to make a decision."

Villarreal midfielder and Spain international Marcos Senna is tipped to be the latest arrival, but the Old Trafford faithful will have their best chance of the summer so far to gauge how well the current squad is developing at this weekend's pre-season competition.
