Reyes and Clichy sign long-term contract extensions

The Club is delighted to confirm that both Jose Antonio Reyes and Gael Clichy have today signed new long-term contracts with Arsenal.
Jose Antonio has signed a new six-year contract, securing his future with the Club until 2011. Since joining Arsenal in January 2004, the 21 year-old Spanish international has won the Premiership and FA Cup, making a total of 66 first-team appearances and scoring 17 goals.
Gael has also extended his contract, securing his future with the Club until 2010. The 19 year-old joined Arsenal from AS Cannes in August 2003 and has made a total of 46 appearances for the Club. In August 2004, at 18 years 10 months, the French Under-21 international became the youngest player to win a Premiership medal.
Everyone at Arsenal is looking forward to enjoying the continued contribution of both Jose Antonio and Gael in the Club's challenge for honours.
After signing his new contract, Reyes said: “I am so happy to have extended my contract with Arsenal and I’m looking forward to having many more successful years with the Club. I working hard in pre-season training at the moment and am getting ready for next season, when I will do my best to help the Club challenge for all the available trophies.”
Clichy commented on signing an extension by saying: “I’m delighted to have signed a new contract and to have put my future with Arsenal. I really wanted to sign a new contract and I hope it will help me to further improve. I hope too that we will win trophies next season and that I will have the opportunity to prove to the Club and the fans that they were right to give me a new contract.” |
