Anthony Gerrard is aiming to help Cardiff City win promotion to the Premier League after completing his move from Walsall.
Cardiff have secured the defender for an undisclosedfee after Walsall had earlier turned down a �200,000 bid fromScunthorpe United.
Gerrard joins fellow new signing Mark Hudsonin boosting the Bluebirds' centre-half options following the sale ofRoger Johnson to Birmingham City.
And the former Everton trainee is relishing the chance to make his mark in the Championship with Dave Jones' side this season.
"I'm really excited about joining Cardiff," Gerrard told the club's official website. "As soon as I heard that Cardiff were interested in me I never gave it a second thought.
"Icame down and had a look around and all the facilities here really aretop notch, everything is there for us to get into the Premier Leagueand I am really looking forward to being a part of it.
"I like tothink I'm a player that gives 100%, whole hearted and never gives up. Idon't suppose it's my place to say it, but I like to think I can playand am looking forward to getting started.
"It's a great move for me and, as I said, I can't wait to get started."
Gerrard made over 180 appearances during his time with Walsall, having originally joined the club on loan from Everton in 2005.
