Most airlines would oversell to ensure they have enough coverage for the operating cost for each flight. This is especially true for the short flights because cooperate cancellations are common. We need to remember some people even miss their flights. For the majority of the flights there will be spaces when the plane takes off, however there are occassions where more legitimate passangers show up than the seats available. This is why sometimes economy class passengers have to be 'bump' up to the Executive or First Class. These 'extra passangers' can also be asked to be switched on to a later flight on the same day or other airliner's plane (in this case, China Airlines and Eva). In the extreme case, the airlines would offer these people a night (or more) or hotel accomodation, a coupon for their next purchase (at least US$100).6 }, `% D8 |. O
