Assume its something minor which can be settled personally without notifying insurance or the police.
Lets say maybe around $500 or $600 cad ?

That's why we need insurance......claim it and swallow the rise of premium next year la.
You didn't specify the damage...total loss or just minor damages on bumpers/sidedoor....such general question is impossible to answer.
I think a more sensible question would be: If your vehicle is damaged by your girlfriend when she's behind the wheel, and she asked you to cover the loss on behalf of her, would you want to continue the relationship?

I don't think your parents in law would think that you're cheap...
I live in Canada....I don't know about the others but I think the girls would pay for that for sure.
Even if her parents know about it, her parents would pay it too.
