Everton have clinched the signing of Inter Milan winger Andy van der Meyde on a four-year deal.
The Holland international winger, formerly of Ajax, joins for an undisclosed fee and becomes Everton’s eighth signing of the summer.
Van der Meyde came through a medical on Wednesday - despite arriving in England with a groin strain - as Everton beat the midnight transfer deadline.
The groin injury could delay his debut but Everton are optimistic Van der Meyde will soon be available to boss David Moyes.
“I am very happy,” Van der Meyde told official club website www.evertonfc.com.
“I am happy I can play for Everton because it is such a nice club and I hope I can show my football again because it has been a long time for me.”
After two years of frustration in Serie A, with Van der Meyde struggling for form and hampered by injuries, he is looking for a new start in the Barclays Premiership.
“I really want to do some nice things here. I believe in the team and the club and the trainer and I believe it will be a good year for us.”
