John O'Shea is set to become the first player to move from
Manchester United to hated rivals Liverpool in more than 40 years.
  
The Daily Star says Kop fan O'Shea is a £2.5m target for Rafa Benitez,
who wants to do business as soon as possible after Wednesday night's
Champions League Final against AC Milan.

If the Ireland defender makes the switch, he will be the first player to do
so since Phil Chisnall joined Liverpool from United in 1964.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has made a mega move for
Manchester United contract rebel Rio Ferdinand.

The Mirror says Barca have been encouraged by the England defender's
contract dispute at Old Trafford and the United plc board's refusal to meet
Ferdinand's massive wage demands.

Ferdinand - who has two years left on his current deal - and his agent
Pini Zahavi are demanding £125,000 a week, which would make him the
highest-paid defender in the world.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson made it clear he wanted a decision from
Ferdinand on his future before Saturday's FA Cup final, but that never came.

Now Barcelona - armed with a £30 million offer - have made an approach
directly to United to try to take advantage of the uncertainty at Old Trafford.
