Glenn Hoddle used David Beckham due to there'd be long term injury for Darren Anderton since 1996.. (yes, just after Euro 96).... and Steve McManaman was not fit......... after Euro 96.. so Glenn Hoddle finally used David Beckham in his starting lineup in World Cup 98
