I think Arsene Wenger know the problems

I believe there are some reasons how he plays in first half today

1) They don't have Centre Forward in last 2 games, Bendtner, Rosicky couldn't play 90 mins due to their fitness problems (after long term injury) Eduardo was out in that 2 games, Van Persie is out until April. Walcott is just coming back from injury, he's not in form at all. so does Clichy

2) I believe they tried to use "long ball" system, because Arsene believed centre back for Chelsea, Man Utd were having their problems, i.e. Wes Brown + Johnny Evans is 1 of the worst central partnership in Premier League nowadays, John Terry got his personal problems. You could see John Terry didn't perform well in the first half of the game, he couldn't concentrate on the field until half time. Arsenal could use skillful and quickness players to create their chances if their opportents made some mistakes.

3) If you see Arsenal for last few year, that's normal to see their centre back move forward and didn't run back. I think the problem for this few games, which should be no one could run back and block any counter attack from opportents. Denlison failed to do his job when he played vs Man Utd, Clichy failed to do his job when he played Chelsea.

4) That's tough for Arsenal to play 4 consecutive games. But if you think deeply, after they could pass this four matches, their schedule would be really easily so they can train back all their injured players.

After I watched Arsenal vs Man Utd and Chelsea vs Arsenal. I believe Chelsea deserve to win the champion this year.
