Well,
if I were any coaches in NBA, I would choose the following players in backup

West:
Marion,
Brad Miller,
Dirk,
Allen,
Amare Stoudemire,
Brand,
Mike Bibby,
Lewis (cos he could play SF and SG)

East:
Arena,
B Wallace,
Francis,
Pirece,
Jamison,
Wade,
Micahel Redd,
Z

By the way,
I will cancel Lewis in West and Redd in East (well, I don't choice Pierce, due to Boston is leading in Atlantic Division)

Wai214, do u choose Jefferson? or Jamison?
Jefferson is out of season due to injuries, he could not play in All-Star game

I agree with Wai and herothree.
I love Jamison,
he's the most underrated players in the league.
His style gets a little bit different between Brand and Duncan.
He's a player between SF and PF...
But he's much better than Odom.

em... if someone is injured in all-star, the roster will be getting 12 players....

for example, --- Chambers won NBA all-star's MVP in 1987,
he was the player, replaced Ralph Sampson as he got injured just a weekbefore all-star game...

so if Kobe is out, they could select one more players in West..... em.. so maybe I will choose Lewis........ and nash will be in starting lineup

About the West backup players.
from my memory, in 89 all-star game, they have 3 Portland Players in West backup, Terry Porter, Clyde Drexler and Kevin Duckworh
and in 93 all-star game, the East got Mark Price, Larry Nance and Brad Daughtery (both Cavs) for the backup, so it could be possible to have 3 Phoneix players in backup

I read the rules,
the coaches CAN'T choose anyone on their team to be reseve in All-stars
so they could choose whatever they like...

No one knows what they are thinking..
for example: in 00, Blazers was leading in NBA (as in all-star break), they got 1 all-star player.. (Wallace)

In History, the time that ONLY 3 players were choosing in all-star reseves, we should go back in 1994.. when  Charles Oakley, Patrick Ewing and John Starks were choosen in East (em.. I didn't agree they would choose Charles Oakley in East at that yr.. but.....)
