Let me just say it first: I am neutral to Man U, Gunners and Chelsea....so hopefully my opinion would be more neutral than others.
Don't know if you have been paying attention to the ownership issue of the club lately. Malcolm Glazer's take over is one move that can have major impact of the club where so many "Hongers" love and adore.
While some blame Fergie for the eventual privilization of the club (if you do not know what I am talking about...shame on you! ), like http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=333782&cc=5901 it is hard to argue the Scottish tycoons would sell their stake at a high point. For years the stock has been soaring high and the return is unbelievable. While many clubs survive over decades and have success over the pitch (Real Madrid, AC Milan, PSV, Porto, San Paulo, etc.), most have fallen on their own swords when they signed with huge TV contracts, and endorsment packages. The reality is the salary is simply too crazy for any club to survive. Most clubs would be lucky to have the muscle and $ to dominate for 5 yrs, let alone building a dynasty. This is a reality.
With the situation in Manchester, once he gets the control (95%, I believe) of the club and assumes ownership, Glazer would privatize the club and squeeze $ out. Ticket prices will go up and most likely a moderate budget will come out of it. We may see a few signings here and there, but I really don't see them on the same level (in terms of talent) with other big clubs. They will be good enough for the top 3 or 4, but it will take some drastic events to get back where they used to be in the 90s.
Fergie is a great coach, but I don't think he will stick around too long after the takeover. The Scot is a proud man and he won't tolerate an American to 'rape' his club. I would suspect Fergie will retire soon...which is the real problem of the die-hard united fan. Fergie and Keane are the only constant in the club now and their departure can spell a downward spiral for the club.
I hope United will win in Cardiff this Sat....this Gunners/Reds match up would not happen often again....enjoy the football...no matter who wins....
definity mature and respectful comments
and that's what I am thinking in my heart
