Edwin eyes improvement
Edwin van der Sar says Manchester United are ready to pounce should Chelsea suffer a mid-season blip.
The Blues head the Premiership table by nine points and show no signs of slowing down as the season heads into the busy festive period.
United bounced back from a disappointing week to hammer Wigan and the victory appears to have restored confidence at Old Trafford.
Dutch keeper van der Sar admits Chelsea are showing no signs of faltering, but claims United are ready to crank up a gear.
"I think every team can make mistakes and slip up," van der Sar told Sky Sports News. "With the players they have, they have potential and are doing well.
"With the group we have we have not performed as we should up to now, but hopefully we can get going more fluently than before.
"It (winning The Premiership) is possible. They have more points than us so all we can do is put a run of five victories in and gain some points on them."
United had been a game behind Chelsea until beating Wigan and are now nine points adrift after 16 matches.
The Red Devils face Aston Villa on Saturday, 24 hours before Chelsea travel to Arsenal, and the lead will be down to six points if United prevail.
"We have always been behind with games, but if we win it can be a six-point gap," added the Dutch giant.
"We can't look for Arsenal to do us a favour, we have to do ourselves a favour."
