Reds' row with Chelsea intensifies

Kick Out Chelsea
United and Chelsea are locked in an all-out war which could rip the game apart. United claim the champions have induced 18-year-old Nigerian midfielder John Obi Mikel to break a contract with them. And they have written to FIFA sensationally asking for Chelsea to be banned from competitions which could include the Premiership and Champions League.

Fergie On Red Alert For Joey
Joey Barton is poised for a sensational switch across Manchester from City to United. The tough midfielder last night stunned City by handing in a written transfer request - 24 hours before the deadline. City immediately rejected the request, but sources claimed that the 23-year-old is about to solve Sir Alex Ferguson's midfield problem. If Ferguson lands Barton - for around £5m - United's Kieran Richardson could move to Eastlands as part of the deal.

Neville Faces Hate Mob
Gary Neville has been warned to brace himself for the most fearful abuse of his life when United face Liverpool in next month's FA Cup fifth round at Anfield. Neville, 30, is in the dock for celebrating in front of Kop fans after United's late winner at Old Trafford nine days ago. Ex-United star Paul Parker reckons Neville is in for a nightmare as the Scousers go for revenge. Parker said: "He's going to get a lot of abuse. He's brought this upon himself but he'll get through it - he won't sit back and hide."

Wayne's World Of His Own
Franz Beckenbauer claims that he has never seen a talent like Wayne Rooney and is backing the Manchester United man to be the player of the World Cup as he leads England to glory. Beckenbauer said: "When I look at Rooney I see a player who can become a superstar at this World Cup. I know there is a lot of expectation on him in England, but I believe he is mentally strong enough to take that and cope with it. I can't think of anybody I've seen like him. He is a unique talent." |
