Ruud Salutes Team-Mate's Wonder Goal
Ruud van Nistelrooy hailed team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo's first goal against Portsmouth "out of this world" following United's 3-1 win at Fratton Park.
After van Nistelrooy had earlier put the visitors ahead, the Portuguese winger struck a bullet-like drive in the 37th minute and fired his second on the stroke of half-time.
"Ronny scored two great goals," van Nistelrooy told Sky Sports at the final whistle.
"His first was out of this world and his second one was a good finish after good play from the back through the midfield.
"We played well in the first half," he added. "But we were very poor in the second half.
"It was disappointing because we weren't in trouble at all before half-time. But they had most of the play and the best of the chances in the second half.
When asked if Chelsea's 3-0 defeat at Middlesbrough had re-ignited United's title hopes, Ruud said defiantly: "Who said we'd given up?
"We're still chasing them, that hasn't changed.
"Chelsea need to collapse but it's important we focus on playing well and collecting three points from as many games as we can." |
