Quinton Fortune has held informal talks regarding a move to Celtic, following an invitation from former Manchester United team-mate Roy Keane.
The South African midfielder has recently been released by United and is wanted by Premiership duo Bolton Wanderers and Manchester City.
But Scottish champions Celtic are also interested in the 29-year-old, who spent seven years at Old Trafford.
He travelled to Glasgow on Friday to check out The Bhoys' facilities, although Fortune was quick to play down the significance of the talks.
"Keano phoned me up - we were friends at United," Fortune told The Sunday Mail. "I was in Glasgow on Friday to see things for myself and it was terrific.
"Celtic are one of the greatest clubs in the world and the history and passion around the place is unbelievable.
"If you asked any player in the world to play there, they'd do it.
"I don't want to make too much of a comment or be disrespectful to Celtic because I haven't had a medical or signed anything.
"But, from what I saw of them on Friday, it would be an honour to play there.
"There are a few clubs involved, but I can't say too much at the moment because I don't want to come across as being cocky or disrespectful to any of them."
Fortune's agent Francis Martin also acknowledged the informality of the talks, but expects to filter-004 the possibility of a move to Parkhead with Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell in the coming days.
Martin said: "Nothing was filter-004ed about contracts, finances or anything.
"It was just a cup of tea and a look around the place. Quinton flew up and flew straight back.
"But we will carry on talking through this week when Peter Lawwell is back."
