賓尼迪斯離開利物浦
利物浦在週四跟賓尼迪斯達成解約協議，他將會離開執教六季的紅軍。據悉利物浦支付數百萬鎊的解約費予去年才跟球會續約的賓尼迪斯，而球會總監佩斯路與及名宿杜格利殊將會協助物色新帥人選。
利物浦在去季先後在歐聯、英足總盃提早出局，而聯賽也只能取得第七名令賓尼迪斯在球會的前途亮起紅燈，而週三球會亦決定向他提出解約。
賓尼迪斯發表聲明對於離開利物浦感到哀痛，但感謝球迷一直以來的支持。2004 年接替候利亞執教利物浦的賓尼迪斯雖然在首季帶領利物浦取得歐聯，並在翌季取得足總盃，但仍未能帶領球隊取得英超聯錦標。他在執教期間曾跟班主希斯一度隔空罵戰，而據稱在去季他己失去主力謝拉特、班拿約及費蘭度托利斯的支持，令到球隊失去應有的爭勝動力。
正在跟西班牙國家隊備戰世界盃決賽週的門將拉爾拿對於賓尼迪斯的離去感到傷感: 「他在球會的位置相當重要，我也從未想過他離去後會是怎樣，我希望他在將來會更好。」

Well, as a Liverpool fan, I have a mixed feeling for the departure of Rafael Benitez. I would like to say ...... thanks for your contribution and bring me some good memories, Rafa. I will never forget the incredible Champions' League glory in Istanbul (this match I always remember and encourage myself when I need to overcome difficulties in my life ......), another 3-3 in the FA Cup Final against West Ham United, a magnificent 4-1 win over MU in Old Trafford, etc. Although your reign is finally ended in a disappointment, I still think that you are a top manager. Wish you all the best and YNWA ......
Finally, the idiot Yanks should get out of the club as soon as possible and give the club a chance to redevelop. I like Rafa's Valencia very much. The team's performance was absolutely brilliant under his leadership ...... that's why I was very happy when he joined Liverpool ......
