Because if he was to put into middle, he would appear even smaller and shorter, unless they Photoshop his size and height, which would look ridiculous.
It's pure artistic sense and direction instead of any kind of discrimination as some people with inferiority-complex from a particular filter-074 nation would always complain about.
On top of that, his screen time in the 2nd and 3rd movies are just less than few mins and less than 10 lines of conversation.  He has been more like a cameo than a main cast.  It is not inappropriate to put him on the side along with other minor cast members.
