While Liverpool managed to overcome their one-man disadvantage against Everton last weekend - the sending-off of captain Steven Gerrard means he will miss the trip to the Hawthorns on Saturday. Rafa Benitez could decide to replace Gerrard with another striker to partner Peter Crouch upfront in a 442 formation, or another option would see Dietmar Hamann coming into central midfield with Luis Garcia shifted out to the right hand side. Djimi Traore faces a late fitness test on his thigh problem, but regardless John Arne Riise should start at left-back.
