U.S. sports tycoon Malcolm Glazer has raised his stake in Manchester United to about 74 percent, a source close to the matter said on Friday.

The move brings the American financier to within a whisker of a key 75 percent threshold, above which Glazer can take full control of the 15 times English soccer champions and delist the shares.

The Glazer family said earlier in a statement it owned 71.8 percent of United, but the source said banking advisers had continued buying shares in the open market.

"We will definitely get to 75 percent by Monday," the source said.

Manchester United captain Roy Keane is ready to move to Celtic in the summer.
The Sun says Keane is ready to walk out of Old Trafford if manager Sir Alex Ferguson quits.

Manchester United's captain, Fergie's closest ally, will join Celtic should his manager become a victim of Malcolm Glazer's ?90million takeover.

Ferguson is set for talks with Glazer to discuss the club's future and his role in it over the next week.

Real Madrid have launched a £21 million bid for Manchester Unietd defender Rio Ferdinand.
  
The News of the World says Real's marketing director, Jose Angel Sanchez, flew to Manchester last week in a bid to exploit the turmoil surrounding Malcolm Glazer's controversial takeover.

The American tycoon has saddled United with a £265m debt mountain in order to finance his buy-out and may now be tempted to recoup some of that money by selling Ferdinand.

Real are also acutely aware that Rio has still not signed a new contract to stay at United and the lure of linking up with his England team-mates David Beckham and Michael Owen could prove irresistible.

Ferdinand has two years left on his contract and has angered boss Sir Alex Ferguson over his reluctance to sign a new four-year deal worth £100,000 a week.

Sanchez has closed the deals for David Beckham from Manchester United and Michael Owen at Liverpool over the last two years.

費爵爺要求與格拉澤面談


美國石油大亨格拉澤的“曼聯收購風暴”愈演愈烈，為了摸清格拉澤的意圖，領隊費格遜要求與格拉澤面談。



曼聯董事會13日舉行了一次緊急閉門會議，行政總裁吉爾向與會人士通報了有關格拉澤收購一球會的情況，並保証在這位美國人入主曼聯之後大家不會丟掉飯碗。

但在這次緊急會議上，費格遜表示，他要在弄清楚格拉澤的想法之後，才能決定自己是否繼續執教曼聯。因此，他必須要和這位大亨面談一次。

有消息說，格拉澤也想能和對曼聯球迷影響巨大的費爵爺交流意見。他計劃派一架專機來接費爵爺到美國佛羅里達與他見面。他希望費格遜能繼續留在曼聯，去安撫球迷。

據說，在面談時費格遜首先要求格拉澤敲定與傑斯、李奧費迪南德和基斯坦奴朗拿度續約的事宜，然後還要保証他在今年夏天的轉會市場上有兩千萬英鎊的轉會經費。

如果格拉澤連這兩個最起碼的條件都不能滿足，那麼費格遜很有可能在本季結束後離開他親手締造的曼聯帝國。
