Vidic demands are big
Russian giants Spartak Moscow have slapped a massive £10 million price tag on their star defender Nemanja Vidic.
The 24-year-old is understood to be high on Sir Alex Ferguson's wanted list at Manchester United, while Liverpool and Aston Villa are also very keen on the Serbian.
Spartak have admitted that they are prepared to let Vidic leave, and are bracing themselves for bids - but they will not let him leave on the cheap.
"If Vidic were to get such an offer that he won't say no, we will want €15 million (£10 million) in compensation,"Spartak chief executive Sergei Shavlo told Sport Express.
"All questions about this transfer will be fixed in January, when Vidic comes back to Moscow from his rest or earlier."
CSKA Moscow have also been linked with a possible swoop, but Russian sources insist that Vidic has told Spartak he wants to be sold to Italy or England.
Serbia & Montenegro national coach Ilija Petkovic insists Vidic is ready to make the move to one of Europe's elite.
"I can say that Vidic's level is so high he can play with the best teams in Europe," Petkovic told Sovietskiy Sport.
"But he will have to choose his future himself." |
