I need more information before I can help you.
1. If you been trying to install a piece of hardware, check the wiring first. If all connections checked out ok, you could be having an IRQ conflict between the new hardware you installed and the IDE controller.
2. Check any "Virtual optical drive" software on your hard drive, they are known to cause problems with some optical drives.
3. One or both of your optical drives might be defective, try to remove one of them and see if the other drive is working. (Defective optical drives might cause problems for other device connected to the same IDE channel)
4. This is highly unlikely, but try removing both of your IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers under windows safe mode and allow your OS to reinstall drivers for both of your IDE controllers.
5. Scan your hard drive for virus with a good anti-virus software.
6. Kick your computer.. um.. i mean send it in for repairs  |
