BEATTIE'S LINED UP FOR NEW BASHING

JAMES BEATTIE is to be given a major dressing down for the second time in a fortnight.

The Everton striker faces a carpeting from manager David Moyes after he was the victim of a vicious attack in the SobaR Noodle Bar in Birmingham, where he was kicked while on the ground in the early hours of Sunday.

Beattie is unlikely to be fined for the incident because he had been given the night off by the club, and did not break any curfew or rules on behaviour.

But Moyes will want to know exactly why his new signing chose to go out in Birmingham just hours after his side had beaten Aston Villa so comprehensively on Saturday afternoon. He will also want to know why the former Southampton forward allowed himself to become involved in the affray, which was allegedly sparked by an insult aimed at the player's girlfriend.

Moyes will also point out that going out in a city where plenty of Villa fans are still smarting over his decision to snub them in favour of Everton, is hardly the brightest thing Beattie has ever done.

Beattie has already been fined £60,000 for his dismissal just eight minutes into the crucial Premiership clash with Chelsea at Goodison two weeks ago, for what TV later showed was a ridiculous head-butt on William Gallas.

Moyes is unhappy that the man he bought for £6m has hit the headlines again so soon after.
