The ideal Hong Kong can be very simply.

What government, world city are too unreal to me) }% i4 t7 f0 o, O9 a( m" p
Everyone got a different ideal Hong Kong in mind
+ ~$ Z! e' x" V `4 n+ {I have stayed in Australia for many years and my girlfriend is Japanese. {3 |* y; G; C3 C
So it's hardly to avoid comparing Hong Kong, Japan and Australia

First of all, Hong Kong is famous for shopping, becuase the selling is extremely low2 t- @1 S* Y- S# i$ {' d
However, the style and quality are must worse than Japan.4 I. V1 l6 q" H, {* D- E
My ideal Hong Kong is keeping low selling price but improve quality and style of the goods and service. This is very very hard to achieve.
& p2 F8 a$ W Q3 W6 x& ?/ @$ IBut that is ok, we are just talking ideal. Ideal doesn't have to be achievable/ g; p9 S' p! L) A$ ]
Secondly, the Salary are very high in Japan. High salary improve stardard of living
- G% y/ A* ]5 YSo, people eat better, wear better, and even go for treavel
+ H( Y# }6 ` N: }6 ]& j3 rThridly, Australia has huge area of land, hardly any to see buildings,
& L. ~, p* k' F3 h; YPeople are living a house. A house is hardly any to see in HK.
; T; X2 `9 c) mMy ideal Hong Kong is more land, more house, T! P/ @2 M, P0 y0 k$ z3 i

All other thing between people, I respect this is unique Hong Kong cultue
