Real Madrid are set to complete the transfer of Alvaro Arbeloa from Liverpool.

It was speculated last weekend that Arbeloa would complete his move to the Bernabeu some time this week, and fresh reports now suggest that the deal is as good as done.

According to AS, the 26-year-old has accepted contract terms from the ‘White House’ and a transfer fee of €4 million has been agreed. The only thing that remains now is for the clubs to resolve the method of payment.

The newspaper, however, is still confident that, as per the promise from last week, the transfer will be made official shortly after the player concludes the remainder of his summer holidays.

The report does contradict the Madrid hierarchy’s stance of not bringing in any more new signings until they are able to trim down their squad. But Arbeloa's arrival will all but complete Los Blancos' rebuilding plans for their back line.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have also reportedly accepted a €4.5 million offer from Napoli for left-back Andrea Dossena.
