His performance is just 'cause he's in New Jersey. If he's in another team with better players, he certainly wouldn't be putting up these numbers. He's got the advantage of being quicker and more agile than most power forwards, which contributes a lot to the statistics he puts up, but he's not strong enough to compete in one on one situations.
If he were in, say San Antonio which has a better bench and forces him to play backup to Tim Duncan, he'd be sharing minutes with DeJuan Blair who's smaller, but stronger and more active on the rebounds, causing a drop in numbers.
In reply to vbvb, the chances of him becoming an All Star are negligible for the years to come with KG and LeBron James taking up the starter spots (which is the only way he'll manage to get in there 'cause of Chinese voters), with Chris Bosh and Josh Smith likely to be backups. Even if he does get into the All Star Game, it would definitely be because of Chinese voters. He has a long way to go before proving to be an All Star. |
