In order to achieve a more secured and stable file integrity OS environment, MS has improved CRC checks for data transfers between the IO systems running Windows XP. It means that Windows XP will only accept good quality memory modules, not those cheap low quality memory modules. In a way you get a better OS but the down side is that the system requirement is also increased. If you were using windows ME or 98 OS then you will be ok, which doesn't require a higher standard CRC checks.
