Make a bootable disk with a PC running Windows 98, or Windows ME.  Remember to copy the files of FDISK and FORMAT these two files to the 1.44 diskette.  I cannot tell you the extension of these two files.  Please check by yourselves.

Then, boot the PC with this diskette.  Run FDISK, erase the partition first and make the partition again.  Remember to press ESC to quit the FDISK program.  Reboot again the PC.  Type FORMAT C:/S.  If it can see the drive C: then you get it.

2000/XP/2003 用 CD boot 機就可以了

recently i hv started using ide--->usb interface to format hdd. it's a lot faster this way, but you will need more than one computer. it's good for people who are not familiar with running command in dos mode.

using fdisk to setup what size you want for c: d: ....
do forget to setup c: as active otherwise it can not boot under dos after you format your HD
use command 'format c: /q /s' to format harddrive c, in quick and bootable mode.
or format c: /q
and use sys c:

However, there is no need to use a 2nd hdd to boot, all you need is just a WIN start-up floppy disc.

If you need want to format, I have two choices for you:

1)use a windows start-up disk, and format in dos mode. but you will only get fat32 with this method.

2)if you are currently running a windows, plug in your USB drive first. Go to Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, Administrative Tools, then Computer Management. To format any drive, just right click on the drive and choose format. If the drive is not yet partitioned, you can create partitions here.

如果你對於DOS唔熟悉﹐用IDE-USB ADAPTOR就最好。
