Sir Alex Ferguson is hoping Wayne Rooney will not be handed a suspension after his sending off in the pre-season friendly against FC Porto.
The 20-year-old frontman scored in the 3-1 win but was dismissed four minutes before half time after an aerial challenge with Porto's Pepe. It appeared a harsh decision by referee Ruud Bossen to give a straight red card for an incident Sir Alex described as "innocuous".

The referee can report the incident to the Dutch Football Association, who can in turn can pass it on to the English FA and they could punish Rooney if they feel it necessary to do so. He could miss three matches at the start of the season, which would include Fulham, Charlton and Watford.

"I've seen the incident with Wayne and it was innocuous," Sir Alex told Sky Sports. "You would think common sense and fairness would prevail. It's a ridiculous decision, but we will have to wait and see what happens."

The United boss was disappointed with the reaction of some of Porto's players, adding: "We talk about players diving and play-acting so often that it has become the norm and people accept it now. Of course, we can't allow that. [Pepe] made a meal of it. And I thought the referee should have done better than he did. Ole was elbowed, but the ref warned the player and got on with it."

迪羅斯係世杯果下都係冇心嫁la,,,,睇得出佢係向波定向人既,,,但係始終係危險既動作,,,3場都合理,,,但係只係熱身賽都要停就有點兒那個囉~要停賽佢我覺得唔關係到朗尼比人既印象好唔好囉,,!!就算哩下唔係朗尼,,而係第2個,,都可能會被停賽!

The English FA changes their rules in last year...

He will be suspended.

i think rooney won't get ban if the dutch fa dun report it to eng fa, so is up to the dutch fa, but even so he can appeal right?

also I heard that the referee was really straight in that match

If he's keeping that straight, I am not surprised he would send his off in this case.

That's between a "deep" Yellow and a straight red

I would choose red if I am straight

also, remember the position of the referee, he was just standing 3 yards of this incident

i.e. he's clear what he was doing.

I wanna raise a few questions:

1) Is a friendly, is it a bit harsh to dish out a straight red for this incident?
2) Is rooneys arm intentional? coz i think the ref thinks it is, thats why red.
3) The players reaction leading to rooneys red?? coz he was clearly acting, look at the replay, right after rooney got a red he got straight back up!

1) even if that's friendly, that's no different as the standard of individual referee, sometimes you may see some referees that he may "invite" some coaches to sweep one player who had a terrible incident. THIS IS NOT HIS JOB, this is his sympathy inside his heart. That's NOT GRANTED!
2) Yes, I think his left arm was intention
3) The red card was not due to the acting from the defender, it's depended from the action of Wayne Rooney

一向以來英超的執法都係較鬆，因英超普偏較粗野，如果用意甲既標準，我諗朗尼場場要紅牌都似。

英超人粗野得黎唔夠陰濕，唔似馬達拉斯呢d誇張打人球證都可以睇唔倒。

施丹停3場係直接紅牌ge判罰，朗尼都係直接紅牌，所以停3場都合理

而迪羅斯又係開踭，朗尼個犯規無咁嚴重，已經比佢停少左場，所以都好合理

其實應該係佢返到去要去個聽証會先決定,so果3場都未必要停
老孫前年又係熱身賽嚴重犯規red card出場,但又係咁cancel左

以上都係0係大陸睇波果陣個評述講既

Your info was ABSOULTELY WRONG

Sun was sent off in the last game for the perseason last season.
He got suspended in the first 3 game.

Then in the midseaon, he got sent off by Mr. Webb.
He got 4 matches suspension........

do you read the latest news?

The referee didn't think that's SIMPLE incident.

Both referee, linesmen and 4th offical wrote their reports and sent back to English FA......

so they thought this incident should be a bad one
