My computer and my sister’s computer are connected to a network.
There is a printed attached to my sister’s computer.
She can print a document from her computer, but I can print from my computer only if her computer is turned on and logged in with her user name and password.
If her computer is turned off or is in the log in screen, I can not print anything.
What should I do so that I can print a document even my sister’s computer is turned off?
I hope you can understand my question since I can not type Chinese fast作者: slwong3 時間: 2007-3-26 11:06 AM
Since your printer is not a network printer, it is not able to do the printing as a standalone print server.
In order for you to print, your sister's computer must be turned on. I suggest you to create a new user account and assign your printer to that new user account. Then you can just print documents with your computer as that new user instead of using your sister's user account.
Or else, you will have to buy a network printer which can act as standalone print server.
(In that case, the network printer will have its IP address and you just need to attach it to your router. Then everyone on your network can print with the printer.)作者: Nucks 時間: 2007-4-4 03:31 PM
of coz la , because the printer is attached to your sister's computer, so has to use the print driver on that computer作者: acery2k 時間: 2007-4-4 09:54 PM
Since you mentioned that your sister's and your computer are connected together, I presume that you have set up a home network. A router?
If so, the simpliest way to go is to change the router to one that comes together with a print server. You can then just plug your printer into the router and both of your computers can then use the printer as a network printer.
Note that, as far as I know, these routers only support connection to the printer via USB. As such, make sure that your printer can be connected via USB before you proceed.
