Besides C7 80m GBP mega transfer, NBA teams have made a couple of big trade before the draft~~~~~

1. Richard Jefferson is sent to San Antonio Spurs...

--------

    ---------

The Spurs acquired Jefferson from the Bucks on Tuesday in exchange for Bruce Bowen(notes), Kurt Thomas(notes) and Fabricio Oberto(notes),

Recommendation: He joins San Antonio’s big three of Tim Duncan(notes), Manu Ginobili(notes) and Tony Parker(notes)and should be inserted directly into the starting lineup. Jeffersonwill have more competition for shots than he did in Milwaukee, but hisoverall fantasy value shouldn’t drop too much.

His fourth title came with Dwyane Wade(notes) inMiami in 2006.......

is  this trade just a copy of what Miami did in 2006...??

Vince Carter is going home to Orlando, and to theEastern Conference champion Magic.

The New Jersey Nets have dealt the eight-time NBA All Star, who grew up inDaytona Beach and lives in Orlando, and forward Ryan Anderson to the Magic. TheNets get point guard Rafer Alston shooting guard Courtney Lee and power forwardTony Battie.

The trade gives the Magic another star in a lineup that already includesDwight Howardand Rashard Lewis. The deal might also convince Hedo Turkoglu, whocan become a free agent on July 1, to remain with the Magic.
Orlando is hoping Carter, who has averaged 23.5 points over a 10-year procareer, will provide center Dwight Howard with a perimeter scorer who can createhis own shot.

Dwight+Lewis +Hedo+Carter~~~~~

so looking forward for this combination and chemical reaction~~~~~~

The Hawks got some insurance heading into free agency, acquiringguard Jamal Crawford from the Golden State Warriors on Thursday for little-usedguards Acie Law and Speedy Claxton. ..................

seems this deal doesnt really help both teams.....
Crawford is too selfish and one-man player...he would only destory the chemistry in the team rather than strengthening up~~~

hopefully it wont be a repeat of Lakers did in early 2000~~~(karl malone's LAkers...)

magic's bench is another barrier blocking their road to Championship~~~except Pietrus and veteran Anthony Johnson

and Turkoglu's contract is another headache to magic...his agent saying he is going to opt out his contract and become a free agent now~~~although i think it's just some tricks to make magic to pay more to him~~~)

no, confirmed~

hedo still in Magic right?

Magic's main weakness is that they don't have a go - to guy when during the crucial moments. If you watch the playoff, Hedo need to do most of the offense in hte last moments. If they have someone who can knock down bit shot in the end then they might beat Lakers...

Maybe because of this, the GM saw the need to bring in Carter... Honestly, C.Lee isn't that spectacular on both attack / defense.

Personal comment:
I have a feeling that this year's draft class will have a lot of talents, like last year. First, Blake Griffin is clearly the best out of the group. #2 Thabeet avg about a double double and 4 BLKS in college, he can develop to be a real class Centre.

This draft also has a good list of Point Guards namely: Jenning, Flynn and Rubio... SG: James Harden, Stephen Curry

That's like seven players who can become the next star in the NBA...

Wolves released Foye to Wizard, so they'll need to find a replacing PG, and therefore drafted Rubio. But everyone knows that he may / may not join NBA this season so he dropped to no.5
Knowing this fact, Wolves picked another PG with #6: Flynn to use as a back up for Rubio if can't play.

Wolves used their #5 & #6 to pick two PGs... which IMO is kinda stupid...

Ron Artest joins the Los Angeles Lakers!!!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4303679

Free-agent forward Ron Artest says he's leaving the Houston Rockets to join the Los Angeles Lakers.

In a text message to ESPN.com on Thursday night, Artest wrote: "I am happy to say I am goin' to L.A."

ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard reports that Artest and the Lakers have reached a verbal agreement on what is believed to be a three-year contract worth an estimated $18 million. Wednesday is the first day free agents are permitted to sign new deals.

Artest's decision was first reported by CBSSports.com. The mercurial swingman was initially courted by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In his text message, Artest said that he met Thursday with Lakers owner Jerry Buss and had spoken to coach Phil Jackson about the move to Los Angeles, where Artest has been spending his offseasons.

"He wants to win a ring," David Bauman, Artest's agent, told The Associated Press. "He's a winner and a hard worker and he went looking for a team with whom he could find some justification for what he does. He plays his best when he's in that kind of an environment."

Artest's forthcoming arrival coincided with unrestricted free agent Trevor Ariza, who played such a pivotal run in the Lakers' championship run, making a verbal commitment to sign with the Rockets, according to sources close to the process.

Broussard reported Wednesday that, according to sources with knowledge of the negotiations, Ariza was likely to leave the Lakers because L.A. was reluctant to sign him to a contract starting above the league's $5.6 million mid-level exception, even after Ariza's postseason success.

Ariza met Thursday in Las Vegas with Rockets general manager Daryl Morey.

OMG... STUPID LAKERS!!!

But Trevor Ariza is playing so well~ Man Lakers are nutz ~ This line-up of Kobe, Artest, Gasol, Bynum (Bn: Ariza, Odom) is stronger than the Kobe, Shaq, Malone, Payton... ...
Rockets agree on multiyear deal with Ariza
HOUSTON (AP)—The Houston Rockets have reached a multiyear deal with free agentTrevor Ariza(notes), a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Presson Thursday night.
The person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because NBA rulesprohibit announcing free-agent deals until next week, said the Rockets offeredAriza the full mid-level exception for the first year, about $5.6 million.
Ariza is coming to Houston just as Ron Artest(notes) decided to leave and play forthe Los Angeles Lakers. Ariza is likely to take Artest’s spot in the Rockets’starting lineup.

The 6-foot-8 Ariza averaged 8.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists for theLakers last season, which ended with the NBA championship.
The 24-year-old Ariza earned $3.1 million last season and he boosted hisvalue during the playoffs, when he averaged 11.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3assists.

Ariza was acquired by the Lakers in a trade from Orlando in November 2007.He just completed his fifth NBA season after being drafted by the New YorkKnicks with the 43rd overall pick in 2004.
Ariza said after the Lakers’ championship run that he was hoping to staythere. But his agent, David Lee, told KRIV-TV in Houston that Ariza got theimpression that the Lakers didn’t want him anymore.

“It was never about the money,” Lee said. “It was about being at a placewhere he felt wanted and appreciated.”
Rockets general manager Daryl Morey did not immediately return a phonemessage on Thursday night.
He flew to Las Vegas on Thursday to meet with Ariza, a sign that he wasalready expecting Artest to leave.

The Rockets will need Ariza’s versatility and perimeter shooting early nextseason, because they know they’ll be missing Tracy McGrady for the bulk of nextseason. The seven-time All-Star is recovering from microfracture surgery on hisleft knee and could be out until February.
The Rockets are also awaiting a definitive prognosis on Yao, who sustained ahairline fracture in his left foot in the playoffs. Morey made an aggressivepitch to free agent center Marcin Gortat
shortly after the free agency periodbegan on Wednesday.

Utah Jazz talked Kirilenko for McGrady trade
By Tim Buckley

Deseret News

Published: Saturday, July 4, 2009 12:00 a.m. MDT
The Jazz, it's been learned and confirmed, engaged in recent trade talk with
the Houston Rockets about a possible deal that would have brought seven-time
NBA All-Star swingman Tracy McGrady to Utah for small forward Andrei
Kirilenko.

The Jazz, however, have no current desire to make the trade — for reasons
including, but not necessarily limited to, McGrady's health situation and
contract status.

McGrady, 30, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in May of 2008
and microfracture surgery on the same problematic knee late last February.
He also has a history of back problems, played just 35 games last season,
may or may not be able to play more than that next season and is the subject
of frequent trade rumors.

At $23.23 million in the final year of his existing contract, McGrady also
will be the NBA's highest-paid player next season.

Kirilenko, 28 and a one-time All-Star small forward, is due $16.44 million
in 2009-10 — meaning one or more other players would have to be included to
make such a swap conform to NBA trade rules, which call for next season's
salaries to match within 25 percent.

And unless the Jazz included enough additional salary in such a trade to
trump McGrady's number, Utah — as its payroll stands now — would be taking
on added luxury-tax burden.

But Kirilenko also is due about $17.8 million in 2010-11 — which means the
Jazz, if they did somehow send enough salary to Houston to top McGrady's
figure, could save about $18 million over the next two years by making such
a deal.

The trade talk evidently was conducted quite quietly.

"I know nothing about it," said Kirilenko's agent, Marc Fleisher, who met
with Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor earlier this week to discuss the
contract situation of another his clients, starting center Mehmet Okur. "I
haven't heard from anybody in the Jazz office that they're going to trade
Andrei. . . . They've given me no indication of that."

弱隊 want to cut cost and save money due to bad economy.....
only 強隊 are willing to spend money for the championship.....

some teams like NY and NJ are saving for 2010 free agency in trying to get LeBron, Wade and Bosh...
Carter trade is an example of that....

NBA salary cap goes down
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4312721

NEW YORK -- The NBA salary cap has been set for next season at $57.7million, a decline from 2008-09, allowing teams to begin signing players.

The figure the league announced Tuesday night was about$1 million less than last season's cap of $58.68 million, even thoughleague-wide revenue rose 2.5 percent. The number is expected to dropfurther next season when the full effect of the economic difficultieshits.

The new salary cap went into effect at 12:01 a.m. ET onWednesday, ending the NBA's moratorium period and allowing free agentsto sign deals with teams.
Teams and players were able to begin negotiating on July 1. Ron Artest agreed to join the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Detroit Pistons reached agreements with Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva during the moratorium.

The luxury tax level also dropped to $69.92 million. Any team whose salaryexceeds that will have to pay $1 for every $1 it goes over. The tax level last season was $71.2 million.

The midlevel exception will be $5.85 million.
