To be fair to the PC (by saying PC I am referring to Windows based machines) users here...PC is indeed a cheaper solutio and the OS has a bigger pool of software developers over all. Generally more resources are put into the development of PC (with the majority of the word 'done' and 'controlled' by Microsoft and co.).
If you are a gamer....PC is your choice......
While Mac is expensive and have far less software choices, the OS is a lot more superior than the Windows family. The only exception maybe Windos 98 version 2. PC are known notoriously for the numerous crashes and breakdowns. XP was supposed to be the best out there but OS 9 still beats it by a mile in terms of stability.
The current Mac OS (Tiger) is less stable than it's ancestors...it still has an edge over Windows XP....the verdict is not out yet....we have to wait for Longhorn to come out.
Most graphic and music people uses mac....and there's a reason.....mac offer much more room in hardware creativity and durability than PC in these two areas.

BTW, Mac will abandon PPC from IBM and will jump ship to Intel in 2006/7...this is seen as a direct battle with the two major OS. We no longer have to compare apple with an orange....(PPC vs. Intel)...now both machines will use the same chip so we'll for sure know the superiority in the OS battles.
