Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed a new five-year deal with Manchester United that will end any chance of a swoop from Real Madrid. The winger has been offered £50,000 a week and United have been assured by his agent that the 20-year-old will sign when he returns from his summer break. Although Ronaldo secured a five-year contract when he joined for £12.25million in July 2003, he was one of the lowest paid at the club, on about £15,000 a week. Since then he has developed into one of the most exciting players in Europe and United knew they needed to improve his salary to safeguard his future at Old Trafford. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson urged the board to come up with a new deal to reflect his rise in stature. Ronaldo went on World Cup qualifying duty with Portugal after United's FA Cup Final defeat by Arsenal and is now on holiday after completing a charity trip to the tsunami-hit area of Aceh. He will report for pre-season training with the rest of the United squad on June 27 and is expected to put pen to paper on the new deal days later. United were last night close to completing the £3m signing of South Korea midfielder Ji-Sung Park from PSV Eindhoven.作者: adamjacky123 時間: 2005-6-22 05:39 PM
