在西岸決賽不敵馬刺的太陽已開始換血行動，為增強內線實力與馬刺抗衡，今季常規賽成績最好的太陽將得分主力昆廷李察遜送往紐約人，換來32歲前鋒卻特湯馬士和一個首輪選秀權。湯馬士在未來兩季將共獲1.1億港元（1400萬美元）薪酬，並可優先以6300萬港元續約一年。

cos I know they want K. Thomas to stay in the middle

I'm sure Q will be a perfect fit for New York
I think Isiah Thomas wants to create a run and gun style for New York
The future startup I think will be..
PF     Tim Thomas
SF     Quentin Richardson
C      Michael Sweetney or Channing Fyre(the possible new rookie)
SG    Jamal Crawford
PG    Stephon Marbury

That would be a very athletic team
very fast, very young and a team with great perimeter(4 of them are 3 point shooters)
in addition, say goodbye to Allen Houston and his luxury tax pay
Knicks will become more flexible in the free market

As for Kurt,
I don't think he'll really fit into the Suns
but then again,
during his time in New York
from Patrick Ewing days to 1999老八傳奇days to 雙箭頭(Houston & Sprewell) days to now(Starburry days)
He never really did fit in ethier
But he's always played hard in doing his duties
so I think he'll turn out OK in Phoenix

I'm just surprised why Phoenix is willing to give up a player who is such a good fit for their team

其實 K. Thomas 係一個好實而不華嘅球員﹙個人好鍾意佢﹚，佢响 New York 嗰邊平均都有雙雙嘅成績兼且表現穩定，如果可以融入球隊應該會減輕到 A. Stoudemire 嘅壓力；雖然 Q. Richardson 年紀輕可能有無限潛能，但係現階段嘅佢仲係好飄忽，而呢次交易 Phoenix 又可以獲得一個首輪選秀權，所以呢筆交易對 Phoenix 嚟講未必唔係好事。

kurt thomas 係個幾好既內線球員，佢係個防守唔錯既球員，雖高度係差少少，但佢單對單防守功係無問題的，可以幫輕 stoudamire 的負擔，stoudamire 亦可以專心係防守方面做夾擊。佢既籃板都好好，以太陽既籃板，有 marion 同 stoudamire ，再加上佢既威力，籃板會有唔少優勢。

不過都係之前所講，擔心佢既打法配合唔到太陽既快速打法。要做一般中鋒既工作佢都無問題，但係佢唔似 stoudamire，做唔到一個通街跑既中鋒，如果要做反擊快攻，可能會做唔返呢季咁利落。多左 kurt thomas後，就做唔到三個球員企三分線，拉空對方防守效果。

不過 kurt thomas 黎左之後，應該會改戰術既．．．同埋應會正選上陣。

佢去太陽好有用,因為佢可以做返d dirty work,小霸王已經對外講左好多次,如果要佢留返係太陽的話,佢希望打返大前鋒位,k thomas黎左就啱哂拉

Dont forgot Suns got Jim Jackson also a good player a 3 pts shooter also can drive in as good as Richarson so even traded Richarson won't really hurt Suns so bad i think Suns not really want it Kurt Thomas they going to trade him also to get a good defensive player.

你既意思係由K.Thomas打正中鋒？真係勉強左喎。我反而覺得Amare會繼續頂落去。

其實我覺得 suns 應該嘗試簽灰熊0既 SWIFT OR NUGGETS 的 NENE,
或者呢一類身材較高、速度快、封波力強0既大前鋒, 打雙大前鋒比較適合他們而家0既打法。我怕 KURT THOMAS 速度跟唔到隊波。

i think it is good
because Q.Richardson's field goal percentage is too low compare to the others in his team
he is not consistence plus
he is pretty expensive
k. thomas could be a reliable sub. and cheaper
NY has a lottary pick this year and there are lots of players with good potiental
like chris paul deron williams gerald green, sean may etc.
even thou if the pick is gonna be next year,
i think NY is gonna hold a lottary pick (because i dont think they will play good next year)

Richarson really turn useless in the playoff no 3s or anything even Jim Jackson play better than him.They trade Richarson also coz they want to free up space to resign Joe Johnson for a longer contract.

there a rumor about Jamaal Magloire to Raptors for 2 draft pick

well if its going to happen. it will happen pretty soon, and my guess is .... it will happen .... in some form, the raptors might not want to give up 2 pick ( they probly willing to give 7 to land Magloire ) and this is not the first time about rumor that Magloire will come to toronto ( and i believe he once said he want to )

we will see .....

yea, i heard about this rumor too, and tonight at the 7th draft, we could mostly sure that we will trade him right away. everyone was shocked after we chose that guy which is same position as bosh, and we have no way to keep him since we have donyell marshall as a back up already. so what i think now we should trade our 7th draft and one or two other player (which should be peterson since i remember the hornets have interest on him for not a short period of time) for Magloire which is the only star player in nba who would like to come to canada to play.

New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Isiah Thomas announced today that guard/forward Quentin Richardson, the draft rights to Nate Robinson, the 21st pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, and cash considerations have been acquired from Phoenix in exchange for forward Kurt Thomas and the draft rights to Dijon Thompson, the 54th pick in the 2005 NBA Draft.

In a second draft day trade, the Portland Trail Blazers swapped their 27th pick, Linas Kleiza and their 35th pick, Ricky Sanchez, to Denver and acquired Jarrett Jack. Jack was selected in the first round at the 22nd pick by the Denver Nuggets.

日前吵得沸沸楊揚的太陽與尼克交易案，也於今日正式定案。

尼克籃球事務部總裁Isiah Thomas今日正式宣佈從太陽手中獲得三分長射本領高超的Quentin Richardson以及太陽以第21選秀順位挑中的Nate Robinson，而尼克在這筆交易中送出禁區戰力不俗的Kurt Thomas及他們以選秀第54順位看上的Dijon Thompson。

去年夏天改披太陽戰袍的Richardson本季共替太陽打了79場例行賽事，其中有78次先發紀錄，平均每場比賽可轟下14.9分、6.1籃板、2助攻及1.22抄截，他在本季例行賽期間共飆進226記三分彈，是本季全聯盟三分球命中數最多的球員，而且他也是今年全明星賽的三分球王。

2005年NBA選秀剛剛落幕，NBA各球團卻又準備展開自由球員市場搶人大戰。今日(1日)，熱火長程砲手Damon Jones毅然決然放棄與球隊繼續合作的機會，使得今夏自由球員市場又多添一尾肥魚。

Jones是本季熱火陣中唯一一位自例行賽開打至季後賽結束都未缺席過任何一場賽事的球員，他在例行賽期間平均每戰可奪得11.6分、4.3助攻及2.8籃板，平均三分球命中率達43.2%(521投255中)，是熱火陣營相當倚重的長程重砲。只不過，熱火球團為了要繼續留住「鯊魚王」Shaquille O'Neal而恐怕無法給予Jones滿意的價碼，他也因此決定走人。Jones從明天起便可開始與各球隊接洽，但他必需等到美國時間7月22日才能與球隊正式簽約。

太陽本季靠著威力十足的「跑轟」打法而追平隊史最佳的單季62勝紀錄，然而，他們在西區冠軍賽遇上兵多將廣的馬刺時，卻暴露出替補戰力不足的問題。今日(3日)，有地方媒體報導指出，太陽球團為了提升球隊替補戰力，而準備以一張為期五年的合約找來今夏成為自由球員的Raja Bell。

報導指出，Bell很高興能夠有機會加盟太陽陣營。Bell說：「我已迫不及待想要與太陽球員們並肩作戰，姑且不論太陽開出怎樣的條件，只要能穿上太陽戰袍，就足以讓人相當興奮！」

據了解，太陽打算開出400-600萬美元的年薪給Bell，不過，根據聯盟規定，球隊必需等到美國時間7月22日才能與自由球員簽約，太陽最後能否得到Bell還是個未定數。

本季Bell替爵士打了63場賽事，雖只有32次先發紀錄，但他平均每場比賽可貢獻12.3分、3.2籃板及1.4助攻，平均得分成績創生涯新高，三分球命中率亦高達40.3%(134投54中)，而且Bell紮實的防守功夫應該可讓以進攻見長的太陽更具競爭力。

問題在於無球隊肯要。Heat想放走佢都難。況且以佢既表現，好難作為上佳既籌碼。

Heat really need some outside shooter right now the there are only two player can shoot threes hope they sign some 3 point shooter during the off-season to support their team. o i just notice Eddie Jones is a free agent this year
Heat doesn't ahve to offer him a contract or pay him low let him leave the team to free up space

而係喎！查過資料E.jones今年係自由身球員喎！咁岩晒啦。佢薪酬有成13,440,000，唔要佢用D錢黎搵個穩定兼當打既射手仲好。買個Redd 或者 加少少錢要Allen都夠呀。就算繼續留佢，都一定要大幅要求佢減薪。500萬就差唔多。依家千三萬真係太過份啦。

That's different from what I read.  I don't think Eddie Jones is a FA this year, unfortunately.  Rather, he has the option to terminate his $13m contract with the Heat, and I don't think he'll exercise it.  So, it is highly likely that Eddie Jones will still be in Heat uniform next year.

However, there is a chance that Miami might simply waive Eddie Jones or package him in a trade.  There is a provision in the new CBA (which will be signed in July 22) allows teams to waive a player and and therefore be relieved of the player's luxury-tax burden.  While the team still needs to pay the remaining balance of the player's salary, the team will not need to pay the luxury-tax.    This is a one-off provision and a lot of teams are exploring this as a salary reliver.  Miami might be able to get rid of Eddie Jones through this proviosn.

If sun can re-sign Bobby Jackson they can use him as a SG to take Mobely's spot but if Jackson keep getting injure he will be useless so i think re-signing Jackson is a risk or even not re-sign him. King will get wrost without them two.

Horry, one of the heroes of the Spurs' 2005 NBA championship run, has agreed to the terms in a three-year contract offer from the Spurs.

Free agents can't sign contracts until terms of the new collective bargaining agreement between the NBA and its players' union are finalized. The league has estimated July 22 as the likeliest date.

Look like the Spur will win next year champion too...

Allen's agent, Lon Babby, said Tuesday morning that Allen has agreed to terms with the Sonics on a five-year deal. The contract would be for $80 million over five years with an additional $5 million in performance bonuses.

Coveted free agent Michael Redd agreed Thursday to re-sign with the Bucks and play alongside No. 1 draft pick Andrew Bogut and T.J. Ford rather than return to his home state of Ohio to serve as LeBron James' sidekick.

Redd accepted Milwaukee's six-year offer for between $90 million and $96 million, his agent, Kevin Poston, told The Associated Press. The Cleveland Cavaliers offered $70 million over five years, the most they could offer.

He worth for that contract i belived Micheal Redd avg 23.0 points 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists compare him with Ray allen avg 23.9 points 4.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists they both have similar season and Ray Allen have been in NBA for 9 years and Redd only 5 years Redd is a potential player i think he worth it. And Bucks need it him to team up with Andrew Bogut and T.J. Ford, next season the Bucks will proboly made it to the playoff.

yes you are right~Redd真係值96million，佢依家都仲後生，仲有排可以打。呢條長約應該花得物有所值。相反Allen就真係唔知佢可以當fit多幾耐。不過Sonice留佢都可算係不二之選。陣中點都要有番粒星既。

"Larry intends to sign a contract with the Cavs when the moritorium ends," Wechsler said.

Wechsler wouldn't comment on the actual numbers of the deal, but it's believed to be a five-year deal between $65 million and $70 million.

Ya lar Larry Huge is out i think the Cleveland will be so good next year Huge + James the two best steal in the league can't wait to see them pair up.

騎士下年真係唔錯。入Playoffs絕對無問題。而雄鹿又係增長得好勁。東岸有兩股新起勢力。

其實騎士加左曉士無論係進攻同防守都會有突破...
但係騎士始終係james既球隊....角色都位置上都可能有尷尬...
曉士需要既係心態上有所調整...達至隊形完整....
我認為始終要純射手...好似HEAT既D.JONES加入先可以將騎士隊發揮好
曉士打SG...JAMES打SF...

Actually, Shareef Abdur-Rahim is not that expensive.  It is expected that teams can sign him with their mid-level exception, which is approximately US$5m only.  I think this is a great deal for a player like him.

In addition, Nets has a US$4.9m trade exception and they are planning to use it to sign Shareef Abdur-Rahim.  So technically speaking, the Nets has already budgetted for his salary and Nets will not need to pay more taxes by signing him.

Starting power forward Udonis Haslem -- a Miami native who wanted to stay in his hometown so badly that he apparently turned down more lucrative offers from other clubs -- has agreed to a five-year contract that could be worth in the range of $33 million to $34 million, his agent, Jason Levien said.

The exact amount of the deal, which cannot be signed until at least July 22, won't be known for a few more days. Haslem will receive $5.5 million next season and then a 10.5 percent raise in each subsequent year.

this is one of the reason why NY payroll is skyhigh, and also this is the way most NY team sign player, look at Yankees (baseball), Rangers(hockey) and Knicks (basketball), they all have high payroll but their record is not that great .... well Yankees is the only team that actually has something to show to fans

Reports: Swift reaches agreement with Rockets

HOUSTON (AP) -- Free-agent forward Stromile Swift has reached an agreement to sign with the Houston Rockets, according to reports Monday.

Swift's agent, Andy Miller, told several Houston media outlets that Swift had agreed to join the Rockets and was excited about joining a front line that includes All-Stars Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming.

``That's real, real big for us,'' McGrady, who worked to recruit Swift, told the Houston Chronicle from Czechoslovakia. ``I'm going to do my best to turn him into an All-Star player, too. I thought that he was the guy we were missing. He'll add more depth, more athleticism.''

Miller would not disclose terms, but KPRC-TV and the Chronicle reported that the contract would be worth about $30 million over five years -- consistent with the midlevel salary exception available to the Rockets, who are over the salary cap.

Miller said Swift, who lives in Shreveport, La., has long been interested in the Rockets.

``It's almost considered to be his home team, more so than even the New Orleans team,'' Miller told KRIV-TV. ``He knows how good a coach Jeff Van Gundy is and how much he will get out of him as a player.''

The Rockets are seeking reinforcements after losing a seven-game series to Dallas in the first round of the playoffs last season. Houston hasn't won a playoff series since 1997.

Miller would not comment when reached by The Associated Press on Monday.

Swift spent his first five NBA seasons with the Grizzlies, averaging nine points and five rebounds. He averaged career highs of 11.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in 2001-02, his second season. Memphis reached the playoffs the last two seasons with Swift, but didn't win a postseason game, getting swept by San Antonio in 2004 and Phoenix this year.

The Grizzlies, then in Vancouver, made Swift the No. 2 pick in 2000 after his sophomore season at LSU, when he led the Tigers to the round of 16 for the first time in 13 years.

The Nets got their man yesterday, and it was only because Shareef Abdur-Rahim is less greedy than his former employer.

The free-agent forward agreed to accept the lesser of two contract offers yesterday -- a five-year deal that will total $27 million to $30 million -- after the Nets failed to negotiate a better contract in a sign-and-trade scenario with the Portland Trail Blazers. The agreement, which cannot be announced until Friday -- ostensibly the day the new collective bargaining agreement is signed -- was confirmed by agent Aaron Goodwin, whose 28-year-old client is expected to step right into the Nets' starting lineup at power forward.

After two weeks of enlisting the Trail Blazers' help in trying to land Abdur-Rahim a better deal, one based on a $4.9 million trade exception, both the Nets and Goodwin grew tired of waiting. The Trail Blazers continue to demand second-round draft pick Mile Ilic along with the trade exception as compensation, which would enable the Nets to give Abdur-Rahim a six- year, $38 million contract.

But if necessary, he will settle for the midlevel exception, the extra fund that capped-out teams can use for free agents, which calls for a starting salary of $4.9 million to $5.2 million, and can be stretched out over a maximum of five years.

Reached by phone in the early afternoon, Abdur-Rahim said a move was imminent.

"The only holdup has been the Portland-New Jersey thing, and I think they're going to talk more," he said. "But before the day is out, Aaron and I will talk. Something else could develop."

It developed only a few hours later, when Goodwin informed Nets officials that his client is willing to play for the midlevel exception.

The deal is a major triumph for team president Rod Thorn, general manager Ed Stefanski and coach Lawrence Frank, who were relentless in their recruitment of the former All-Star. But while they are now able thumb their noses at Portland, which gets nothing for their departing player, the Nets are still hoping to get Abdur-Rahim the extra year before their trade exception expires July 29.

Before Abdur-Rahim's announcement, Portland GM John Nash maintained that it wasn't going to happen if the Nets continue to offer nothing but a future second-round pick along with the trade exception.

"It's Ilic or no deal," Nash said. "(Blazers president) Steve Patterson talked to Rod today and stated that position. It's not like we're denying Shareef an opportunity to make a living. We played him extensively at the end of the season, and probably assisted him in regaining his value.

"At some point, (the Nets) have to realize they're getting Shareef at a reasonable amount of money for a reasonable price. There has to be give and take. If they feel it's unreasonable, that's their prerogative. It's also ours to say we won't change our position, so either they come around or don't."

Nash added that it's "a gamble on our part" if Abdur-Rahim settled for the midlevel, which leaves the Blazers with nothing. He lost that gamble, and one Eastern Conference GM found the Blazers' tactic "absurd ... all they're doing is screwing him out of $8 million. He was a good soldier for them, and this is the way they treat him?"

The Nets, meanwhile, gain a superbly talented forward, a career 20-and-10 man until he played a reduced role in Portland, and essentially one of the most under-the- radar players of his generation. Though he may only be a fourth option on a team that already includes two stars (Jason Kidd and Vince Carter) and a potential star (Richard Jefferson), Abdur-Rahim can help turn the Nets into one of the most formidable offensive teams in the league, with quality scorers at every position.

The one drawback is that the Nets can no longer use their midlevel exception on Keyon Dooling, their second target. Though they can still use the trade exception -- or a piece of it, anyway, as Dooling figures to be worth about three years and $9 million -- there is no guarantee that Miami will be amenable to a sign-and-trade deal.
