ok I think anything about hockey is cool here. From major leagues to minor leagues to euro leagues (if u follow it). From favourite players, teams, plays, to thoughts about CBA, rule changes and whatnot.

I'll try to talk about my favourite teams and players in brief. I used to like the wings and canucks. I liked the wings cuz they were too good of a team and the canucks after they made it to the stanley cup final. But then the canucks were slowly unloading their rosters and started going downhill then I started to follow the wings games but then after a while I thought I shouldn't support a US team haha. So then I only supported the nucks and then I started watching HNIC on a regular basis and u know how they airred the leafs game every week so I started to follow their games and cheered (a bit) for them. However, their free spending attitude kinda annoyed me so I didn't follow them no more. So back to the canucks again so at that time around they were getting better and better (that was when they traded bure for jovo and 1-2 more players). So I'd only follow their games after that. My favourite player now is Naslund cuz he's got the flare and leadership (tho he's a soft spoken man). He should start collecting assists don't just score goals haha. Not a very interesting story but enough to get the ball rolling maybe?

Well, thanks for your great help in EF...

and Iam pleased that you put posts the new theard, and new SPORTS in here.

checss, i used to play the 'playground' hockey which was not skating on ice, but rollerskating on the ground but I wasn't good at skating so I just run when others are skating haha. We didn't put a goalie on net and we scored by not putting the puck to the net, but to aim your shot to the post (cuz that way it's harder to score). That's about all my hockey playing experience.

brigtlee, thanks for supporting. Really wanna see if we have hockey fans around.

Let me just carry the filter-004ions a bit further here, do you think the shoot out (after OT) is a good idea for the NHL game?

I personally think this idea sucks. While it may have some initial success, eventually teams would have a few specialists who are good in shoot outs only...they may just employ the old OT attitude (play for a tie) and wait for the shoot out. Think about this, getting a point in the shoot out in divisional games are big deals. I think this is actually not a solution for the game.

shootout is good to watch but not really a fair solution for teams. All the 65 minutes of hard skating, checking, and positioning lead to only a shootout? The game just ends too soon. Take for example the canucks, the last time they played oilers they let one silly goal in the last min of the 3rd. Ok so in OT both teams battled hard but still undecided so they went on to the shootout and then cloutier allowed 2 more goals and let the oilers take a point away from us. So we can't complain it's just bad luck for us. Like these kinda wins/losses are not convincing at all. So 1 OT and a tie is the fairest way for both teams, it's like giving credits for both teams.

Like the most memorable continous OT nowadays in my opinion was couple yrs ago in the playoffs when the mighty ducks played like 4 OT's with the stars (i think is that right?). That's really a battle of endurance and either team won, the other team had to have respect for that. Although it might be a bit less exciting to watch but that way it's more convincing.

btw what happened last night between the leafs and thrashers i heard there's a huge brawl going on.

Head hunters were on for both sides....Tie Domi was again the thug....

Don Cherry has a fiery Coaches Corner just moments ago.

I don't know if we will have shoot outs in the playoffs this year...I hope not!

don cherry seems to praise these thugs a lot. He used to call the european players buncha sissies who only got the flashy skills. But overall fighting is good it's part of the game haha.

Agree with you! Somehow the players are softer these days...including the Canadian ones.

Nucks playing Stars tomorrow...can't wait.

canucks up 2-0 in the first

You are watching pay-per-view?

no just checking the scoreboard damn ppv. We are paying for cable tv already why are we paying even more for ppv? Buncha corporate bastards.

3-2 nucks now in the 3rd.

5-2 final

2 more pp goals

nucks are 4-1-1 now
the record looks so good

and naslund and big bert both got 1 pt in the game ... good enuff

I am psy about Richard Park! He's the pride of filter-074s now! Holy Cow! What a goal he scored!

Park is exceeding expectations and i heard he's playing on the 1st line now. filter-074 pride! lol ~

Yes, he is with Nazzy and Mo....

Bert is struggling now...

I like the Carter/Twins line too....

And who can forget Lee Goren tonight!

what's up with bert he's so not a thug now. I miss his standing in front of the net and deflecting the puck game. Actually before the incident, he already kinda changed his game a bit. He had way more assists than goals, and did not try to stand in front of the net. Most of what he did was just carrying the puck from the right side all the way around the net and then look for somebody to pass to ... i mean nazzy and mo can't stand in front of the net or they'd get crushed.

His empty netter was his first goal ... ? so not big bert ... we need him to make a statement man.

Bert hasn't play well for 20 games before the Steve Moore incident...this player's emotional and psyche affects his play so much....ideally the new rules should allow him to 'park' himself in front of the crease and get some nice deflections, I wonder why he's been running around....

Even in the Stars game yesterday...he was not sure about his place a lot....

exactly, the jovo's goal yesterday, if jovo's the one to shoot the pass and bert's in front of the net to deflect, then bert's prolly back in shape but then all he did was just skating around and not able to handle tape to tape passes. But i think he needs some games to heat up like his size is his only advantage if he doesn't utilize it then i guess park will eventually take his spot, though unlikely. But we need bert i miss the big line man haha.

the rules change was good
i kinda like it
more goals
but poor goalies, harder to have good numbers then
and wont' have as good numbers as some of the hall memebers

dont' know enough
but just wanna support
push

the hard thing for goalies is the resizing of their equirpments....small pads, smaller blocker...less allowable outside the crease movement....

Poor folks...

guys like arturs irbe and j.s. giguerre used to have bulky equipments are gonna have hard time blocking pucks now lol.

there was a while when nhl's proposing this weird oval shape net, are they gonna use it in the near future or it's just part of the proposal that got rejected?

i think the goalies are the ones that suffer the most for the "NewEra" of the nhl

well...but i guess more goals are more entertaining for many

just like bball and baseball (especially baseball, for a no hitter game is very....boring)

The league (or should I say Gary Bettman) was never good at enforcing any regulations others than the suspensions. The 'No trap' rule was introduced after the 95 lockout and the game didn't change a bit.

The only good thing about the year long strike is changes are necessary to lure fans back so they have no choice but to hammer on them.

I personally like the elimination of the goal line....it is not just the goals, but free-wheeling hockey!

the more free wheeling hockey does give hockey fans (or spectators in general) a more pleasant game to watch. But I think a good game doesn't necessarily mean high scoring, the stellar defense that prevents each team to score constitutes a good game too, tho some might say it's boring to watch. I think the fun of hockey doesn't limit to just scoring, but also the ups and downs like the excitement to see a player almost scores but then either the goalie making the save/a dman blk-ing the shot. Now offence's kinda like > than def take for examples no 2 line pass and the shootout, so it's offensive oriented game now. I wonder if goalies can have a GAA under 2.00 this year. Maybe I'm reminiscing the older rules but I guess hockey's moving forward now.

But I think hockey's a very fluid game comparing to like football. God all those 5 mins breaks between each play. Why the Americans like to watch a sports that doesn't flow. This is the sports that really needs changes.

btw nucks are playing the hawks rite now ... on ppv (sucks). Are we turning this thread into a canucks thread? lol

anyone noticed nashville's having a good start?

and the leafs are winning
"always home team first"

Don't know if the Leafs are for real.. sorry...

Tie Domi isn't going to carry them for a playoff sport....

I wonder when Lindros will hit his head again....

at least lindros and oneill are younger than roberts and nieuwendyke
but i think the leafs are capable of picking up better players than these since they are so free spending, and they should unload belfour he's 42 rite

canucks were victorious tonight
yay@cooke's goal lol ~

nucks beat the avs 6-4
3rd period was a bit shaky i think they were thinking they got a huge lead (5-1) and they could sit back but boom 3 goals scored by the avs to trail for only 1 goal, but linden managed to score the empty netter to finish it off. The nucks really need to show great strength for 60mins, not 40 mins.

Speaking of good teams...how about the Red Wings and the Predators! Especially the Preds! 6-0-0!

I am a bit surprise of the big Red Machine's run so far. They are a well-oiled team. I expected Nashville to be good..but not that good!

The Nucks were lucky! They are not going to get any wins if they play like that in the playoffs!

i think teams are still getting used to the new system and nucks happen to be a skating team so they have the upperhand early on. And their special teams are working so far, but on a full strength they don't seem to outshine the other team a lot. And the avs' comeback is a warning of their crumbling 3rd period playing i think it already happened to the nucks a few yrs ago when they weren't trying to play good hockey in the 3rd. Teams that are actually good are the wings, avs, flyers, and sens. So hopefully crawford's gonna somehow motivate the team to play solid hockey for full 3 periods and the 2nd line would step up on a full strength (too weak physically) i think they are fine and should still be a contender, if not a stanley cup champ. But we as fans dun wanna wait it's already been 11 yrs now ...

Defensive breakdown is a concern....the nucks are also awful in faceoffs....Morrison gonna step that up...can't use Linden all the time in faceoffs.

exactly they lost quite a few important faceoffs in the last game and the avs took those chances and kept pushing in van's defensive zone. Lucky clouts saw the shooting lane and made the saves. The time the avs spent in nucks' def zone on a full strength was way longer than the nucks. Also their dmen esp the 5th and 6th dmen have to play on a nhl level. Allen's been proving that lately but mccarthy is not really the guy he's kinda in between the minors and pro. Losing sopel and malik really hurt the nucks sigh.

Seems like a lot of holes to fill for a team that's playing well lately haha how sarcastic but then like u said playoffs is a totally different story.

I would be interested in the nucks' next 2 weeks....the grind will tell how good they really are.

nucks 3 wild 1

nhl.com is such a d*ck they never put nucks on the headline they care less about west coast teams, all they know is the avs and red wings ... and lately the flames and that's about it.

tho the nucks have yet to prove they are fully dominating but how bout some respect. Maybe a stanley cup run is needed to put them on the headline. Anyway, not having exposure is trivial but sometimes it's annoying.

No one cares about the west teams......

Even the jerks at CBC...they have the Leafs 20 times in HNIC...and the Nucks 12 times!

I don't think we will have the respect at all....not even after a cup...(Calgary never got it after 1989).

It's all about mass market....commercial money and sponsership.....

bump

nucks 2
wild 1

9-2-2

last min of the game was insane the nucks stood strong even it was a 6 on 3
but i think the wild got a bit lost on the 6-3 since the ice was so packed and they seemed not to know how to set up a good play besides kept firing at auldy

oh and jovo's thundering hit in the last secs was classic

kesler needs to know how to tip the puck outside of the zone with pressure ... it's the 2nd time now ...

but we got the w at last so it's all good
