ABA- The American Basketball Association
The ABA existed from 1967 to 1976 -- for nine full seasons. During that time, the ABA fought a bitter war with the established National Basketball Association (the NBA) for players, fans, and media attention. In June 1976, the two rival pro leagues finally made peace. Four NBA teams (New York Nets - now called New Jeresy Nets, Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, and San Antonio Spurs) came from ABA.The biggest star in ABA were Dr. J - Julius Erving and Moses Malone. The other remaining ABA teams (such as the Kentucky Colonels, the Spirits of St. Louis, and the Virginia Squires) vanished, along with the ABA itself. This league was the history of the game of Basketball.
ABA is reborn and become a minor league. The ABA continues to be innovative in its approach to bring fast-paced, fan-friendly, exciting basketball to true fans. The game has evolved and so has the rules. The ABA combines FIBA and Pro rules to create the best show for the fans. The ABA was the creators of the 3 point shot (now used by the NBA and other leagues). The ABA now has a rule focusing on defense called the 3D. Learn about their unique rules here and how they plan on making the game more fun and exciting. In the ABA they're "Havin' a ball™"
SOME UNIQUE ABA RULES

24-second shot clock
No "One & One" free Throw Situations
Penalty of two shots on the 8th team foul of each quarter
All successful field goals from the backcourt are FOUR points
Must be BEYOND the division line (Foot Cannot Be On The Division Line)
