Glazer purchases Coolmore stake

Malcolm Glazer's takeover of Manchester United took a huge step forward today when he bought the 28.7% stake of Irish racing tycoons JP McManus and John Magnier.
Last month the American businessman was given a `put up or shut up' deadline of May 17 by the Takeover Panel to make a formal approach after months of speculation.

The purchase of the major shareholders' stake was Glazer's biggest obstacle and with that out of the way, he is closer than ever to gaining control of Old Trafford.

Glazer has bought 75,736,960 shares to launch a £790.3million takeover bid. According to a statement from his Red Football bid vehicle, he will pay £3 a share to acquire the 28.7% share.

The deal means Glazer has control of the club with a 56.9% stake, but he needs more than 75% of shares for the offer to go unconditional. He will now make an offer for the remaining shares.

It comes a fortnight after the board of Manchester United said it would not be recommending the takeover proposal to investors because Mr Glazer's business plan appeared 'aggressive'.

佢搞掂咗JP McManus and John Magnier果邊啦
而家 56.9%的SHARE啦
所以一定要提出全面收購
弊咗呢條友果袋冇水呢

Shareholders United .The organisation currently enjoy a 17% share of MUFC, but will need to take this to above 25% to have a chance of blocking Glazer's ambitions.

Shareholders United are already said to be preparing the foundations for the launch of a brand new football club; FC United. In similar style to what has happened at Wimbledon, FC United's ambitions would be to take the hardcore support of United and take them to a new club, likely to be starting life in the lower breaches of the Lancashire non-league set-up.
