Personally I would've picked Monta Ellis over Brandon Roy. As a matter of fact, can Brandon Roy even make the All Star Game? He's injured right now and I'm not sure when he can return. Other than that, I'm quite satisfied with the reserves.

Who are the coaches?

George Karl will coach the West since they have clinched a record at least the same as Dallas Mavericks and Phil Jackson is unable to coach since he did so last year already. As for Rick Carlisle (Dallas head coach), he coached the East in 2004 which is closer than George Karl's last appearance in 1998. As for the East, we'll have to wait at least a few more games. The head coach of the team with the best record (apart from Mike Brown) through to January 31st gets the job.

Personally I would choose Gasol over Kaman, even putting aside bias (since I'm a Lakers fan). Reasons being that, first of all, Gasol has been so important in the team that it struggles without him. Second, Gasol is just a better player than Kaman and third, the Lakers have the better record.

Well, there aren't many good centers left in the league and if I had to pick one from the East, I'd probably choose either Shaq or Horford. Thing is, Shaq hasn't been a major factor in the Cavs' success but Horford has been a big part in Atlanta's record.

In terms of skills, definitely David Lee over Horford. Apparently coaches get to manipulate who they place at what position, so the really could've put David Lee at center but I don't think it got into their head.

Orlando's Stan van Gundy will coach the Eastern All Stars.

Adrian Dantley of the Denver Nuggets and Patrick Ewing of the Orlando Magic will coach the Rookie and Sophomore teams respectively, with their assistants being Durant and Bosh.

But the All Star Game is an annual event, so it depends on the performances of players throughout that particular season up until that point.
