Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo believes the game at Charlton will be a massive test for him following what happened at the World Cup.

Ronaldo angered many supporters during Portugal's quarter final against The Three Lions, with Wayne Rooney's sending off and England's subsequent defeat blamed squarely on the 21-year-old.

In his first Premiership game of the season Ronaldo was given a warm reception by the Old Trafford crowd and linked up superbly with Rooney as United crushed Fulham 5-1.

However, he is expecting a hostile welcome from Charlton fans when The Red Devils take to the road for the first time on Wednesday evening.

"The away games are going to be more complicated but I'm staying calm," he told The Sun.

Ronaldo is taking the positives from the game against Fulham though, and insists that he will stay focused on his football should the boo boys start up.

"In the home game everything went well, it was relaxed, easy," he reflected.

"But I do know the next game will be a lot more complicated as it's the first away one.

"I'll try to put it out of my mind and do my best."

Hargreaves told to forget Man Utd

Bayern Munich have warned Owen Hargreaves to forget about a move to Manchester United.
United are keen to sign the 25-year-old midfielder, who has also expressed a desire to move to Old Trafford.

But the German club's general manager Uli Hoeness said: "Hargreaves is well advised to keep quiet.

"Otherwise I will get very angry and that will not be good for him. I can't understand that after two filter-004ions he is still forcing the issue."

England international Hargreaves was omitted from Bayern's side for the Bundesliga match with Bochum on Sunday after talks with the club.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is determined to bring the player to England and is thought to be willing to pay £17m.

But Hargreaves is under contract until 2010 and Bayern, who lost midfield partner Michael Ballack to Chelsea this summer, are determined he will not be leaving.

Hoeness added: "He won't be released under any circumstances. He needs to accept the decisions of those above him and show some respect."

Ferguson has already admitted Bayern have so far resisted their attempts to add Hargreaves to the summer capture of Michael Carrick, saying: "We are trying hard but Bayern are proving very stubborn and resistant, which I can understand."

A Bayern statement said they had not held negotiations with United and asked for the English side to cease pursuing the player.

Hargreaves has been at Bayern since moving to the club from Canada as a 16-year-old in 1997.

He helped Bayern to the Champions League crown in 2001 and has also won four Bundesliga titles with the club.

He seems determined to seize on his raised profile in England following his combative and tough-tackling displays during the World Cup and an impressive performance against Greece in coach Steve McClaren's first game in charge.

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has threatened to report Manchester United to Fifa over their attempts to sign Owen Hargreaves.

The German champions have made it clear that they have no intention of letting the England international move to Old Trafford, but the Premiership giants are still trying to broker a deal.

Rummenigge now says his club will look to have The Red Devils sanctioned should their efforts to lure Hargreaves continue.

"We have told Manchester United that they should stop trying to tempt Hargreaves. If they don't we will have to turn to Fifa," Rummenigge told the tz newspaper.

"A club may only contact a player if that player's own club gives its permission.

"We are not like Hamburg, who decided to sell Khalid Boulahrouz the moment they had an offer for him.

"We are FC Bayern and we don't give in to anybody. Here it is the employer who decides what happens and not the employee," the former German international striker added.

Hargreaves has intimated his desire to quit The Allianz Arena for United, but it seems Sir Alex Ferguson faces an uphill battle to land the 25-year-old.

Manchester United are trying to lure the Bayern Munich star to Old Trafford, but the German giants do not want to sell.

The Red Devils' pursuit even led to Bayern supremo Karl-Heinz Rummenigge threatening to take the matter to Fifa.

However, things could be further complicated as Hargreaves is reported to be considering holding a news conference where he will underline his desire to join United.

Ferguson is growing annoyed by the saga, but he shows few signs of withdrawing his interest.

"It's a nightmare," said Ferguson told The Daily Mirror.

"I knew it would happen to us because it seems to happen all the time.

"We made an enquiry for Owen before the World Cup started.

"He has the speed and discipline to play in the central midfield role which is going to be so important to us, and he has that English mentality which we are more comfortable with.

"Players like Owen and Michael Carrick can be at United for five or six years, which is what we're trying to build towards, bringing the age of the squad down for the long-term future."
