ARSENAL are making Eduardo da Silva their new Thierry Henry.

The £10million Croatia striker, 24, signed a four-year contract worth £28,000 a week yesterday.

And his old side Dinamo Zagreb claim Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is plotting another raid — for £5m-rated midfielder Ognjen Vukojevic.

Scouts watched the powerhouse in a friendly last week against Austrian side Rapid Vienna.

Dinamo coach Branko Ivankovic said: “Arsene’s been talking to me a lot about Ognjen. He told me exactly how many miles he had run in the game.

“He then told me the player’s height, weight and even the colour of his hair. I was very impressed.”

Wenger, who sold Henry to Barcelona 11 days ago, returned from holiday in Italy to complete the Da Silva swoop.

The Brazil-born hitman already boasts a big reputation — he scored for Dinamo at the Emirates last term and headed home against England in last October’s Euro 2008 qualifier in Croatia.

He said: “I’m excited, happy and very proud that I’m going to play for such a big club.

“Every player wants to play for Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United or Arsenal one day.”

Gunners chairman Peter Hill-Wood says Wenger may have made another transfer coup.

Hill-Wood said: “Arsene’s unearthed a few gems before. He’s full of surprises and knows this player better than some of the forwards we’ve been linked with.”
