Loan Players' Report
Giuseppe Rossi scored another priceless goal for Parma - his seventh in 14 appearances - as Claudio Ranieri's side notched an impressive 4-3 win at high-flying Palermo. The result puts Parma five points clear of the relegation zone.
Gerard Pique came within a whisker of a fifth goal for Real Zaragoza with a free kick against Celta Vigo, but his near-miss did not prove costly as Zaragoza won 2-0 to move into fourth spot in La Liga.
Darron Gibson and Ryan Shawcross were booked as Royal Antwerp slipped to a 2-0 defeat at KFC VW Hamme. Fraizer Campbell completed 90 minutes, while David Gray missed out through injury. Despite Antwerp's slump in form, they are still guaranteed a berth in the promotion playoffs.
Jonny Evans sampled a Championship defeat with Sunderland for the first time - at the 16th attempt - as Roy Keane's side lost 3-1 at Colchester. Danny Simpson was not involved for the Black Cats, who remain on course for automatic promotion to the Premiership.
Ben Foster was guilt of a glaring error as Watford could only draw with Manchester City. The England goalkeeper's mishit pass gave Darius Vassell a simple tap-in and, although the Hornets drew level, Aidy Boothroyd's side are now relegated to the Championship.
Phil Bardsley gave another no-nonsense display for Aston Villa in their goalless draw at home to Portsmouth, performing solidly before being substiuted after 77 minutes as the Villans pushed for a winner.
Ritchie Jones was a late substitute for Barnsley as former United striker Danny Nardiello's brace against Crystal Palace all-but sealed the Tykes' Championship status. Adam Eckersley missed the 2-0 win through injury.
Lee Martin was a late substitute for Stoke City as the Potters' Championship playoff hopes were dented by a 1-1 home draw against Hull City.
Danny Rose was missing as Oxford notched a third straight victory, a 2-0 triumph over Stafford at the Kassam Stadium.
Great job ...Pique and Rossi, Man U door has been opened for you guys~~ |
