Two observations:/ x% E7 C) |2 R: T6 R; i5 b
1) Seems like our friend's presupposition on the transcendence is a localized one (Chinese people have Chinese Gods, foreign people have foreign gods). This is actually an unique point of view sociologically and religiously. For Henry's hypothesis will demolish major doctrines of all major religious beliefs (Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism)...since most of their doctrines (except Islam) covers all humankind.

The same happened to the protestant branch of Christianity in the 50s (if you want to know more...search for 吳耀忠 and 倪柝聲 for their similarities and different treatments following 1949). I wonder if any of us can draw a clear line between religiousity and politics when filter-004ing the role of 3-self churches (protestant and catholic) in modern China.

Thanks FishyR for your reminder. I've been his reader for a long time now and have grown to  'utliize' his ideas to help me think deeper on some issues. His posts may contain various connotations beyond the surface value but that's not my concern (anymore). This guy supplies 'fuel' for my cognitive activities and 'satalite feeds' for my interests beyond North America (particularly around Greater China Region).
