Bayern Munich insist Owen Hargreaves will not be allowed to leave the club before his current contract expires in 2010.

Manchester United are trying frantically to tie up a deal for the England international before next Thursday's transfer deadline.

However, despite Hargreaves' desire to leave and United's keenness to land him - Bayern are refusing to budge.

"He is free to swap sides - but not before July 1, 2010," Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Welt.

"This is the last word. If I say this, then that is what it is going to be.

"He can swap sides on July 1, 2010 - no sooner."

Rummenigge earlier this week stated that Bayern were considering taking United to Fifa over their pursuit, but he now says the English giants have backed off after talks with Red Devils chief executive David Gill.

"Manchester United have stopped their activities," he said.

"I have been in touch with my colleague David Gill and they stick to what we have agreed to. That is correct and serious."

Carlos Tevez's agent has claimed that his charge is nearing a move to England.

Chelsea have been leading the chase in recent months, but Manchester United and Arsenal are also both known to be keen.

Tevez fell out with his Brazilian club Corinthians at the weekend when he walked out following their game with Botafogo - claiming he would not play for them again.

Corinthians coach Emerson Leao has not been shy in condemning the Argentine striker - who looks as if he could be on his way to Europe.

Adrian Rucco, Tevez's agent, admitted a move to The Premiership was on the cards.

"Tevez is very close to moving to an English club," said Rucco.

A host of clubs from Europe are interested in Tevez, with Milan and Bayern Munich also linked.

But Corinthians director Humberto Grondona confirmed that they were under the impression Rucco was setting up a move to England.

"I am convinced that Carlos will go away to some European league," Grondona told La Nacion.

"His representative, Adrian Rucco, was in Rome three days ago and now he has gone to England to look for a club for him."

Reports in France have already stated that Rennes have made contact with Chelsea about the possibility of taking Tevez on loan, should The Blues sign him and decide to let him leave immediately

Ferguson fuming over Brown tackle

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has accused Fulham's Michael Brown of threatening Ryan Giggs' career with a vicious tackle at Old Trafford last weekend.


Television replays showed Brown appear to deliberately stamp on Giggs' leg as the pair tussled for possession by the touchline during United's 5-1 win.


Amazingly, referee Andre Marriner only booked Brown for the tackle, meaning the midfielder will serve no punishment.

At a time when United are without Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes for three games following their dismissals in a pre-season friendly with Porto, Brown's escape, and the prospect Manchester City defender Ben Thatcher will also avoid Football Association punishment for his horror challenge on Pedro Mendes this week, it has only heightened Ferguson's sense of injustice.

'It is not fair,' he blasted.

'If you go back a couple of years, Wayne Rooney got a three-match ban for tickling Tal Ben Haim, yet Brown gets away with a career-threatening tackle like that on Ryan Giggs.

'In fairness, it was FIFA who changed the rule to ensure nothing can be done once a referee shows a yellow card and that is something we have to life with.

'But it has to be said, the workings of the FA disciplinary committee is something that will always bemuse us.'

英格蘭中場夏格維斯表示拜仁慕尼黑高層仍然注視他希望轉會曼聯的意向，即使會方不希望他離開。

在德國一份報章的訪問中，夏格維斯透露現在自己已經不能控制事情的發展，只有留待兩間球會在八月三十一日前解決問題。

「我在過去九年已經把一切付出給拜仁，而我也希望獲得尊重。」夏格維斯說。

「我只是想他們接受，如果我能轉會曼聯，會是對我事業一個重大的轉變。」

夏格維斯在1997年便開始效力拜仁慕尼黑，而他的合約會直至2010年。

而拜仁的體育總監漢尼斯批評夏格維斯向傳媒公開表示他希望轉會曼聯。

據報漢尼斯曾經拒絕了曼聯的二千五百萬歐元的出價，並表示即使出價五千萬也不會出售夏格維斯。

「領隊不希望我離開，這是他的權利。」

「不過他是知道我需要甚麼。」

問到夏格維斯如果真的能夠成功轉會，他表示︰「這是一個挑戰。我是英格蘭球員，部份家庭成員更住在曼徹斯特附近。」
